David Berube, a lifelong citizen of Pawtucket, is the founder of Swift Blue, a web development firm and the creator of the new MoFuse web application.
MoFuse, short for Mobile Fusion, is an Internet application that enables website owners and bloggers to easily create a mobile-friendly version of their website. We launched the current public beta on November 1st of 2007 and have since registered over 4,000 users and created over 4,000 mobile sites.
A question I often hear, "Why would anyone need this?" Have you attempted to view your website through a mobile phone? More often than not, it appears as a garbled mess of content and images.
With MoFuse you can design your mobile site for design and brand consistency with your desktop website. You can use your RSS feeds to syndicate content from your desktop website so that your mobile site is always up-to-date with the latest information. Here are some other MoFuse features:
- Use a custom domain name
- An SMS widget which will send your mobile site address to your visitors
- An easy API enables you to automatically detect and redirect mobile visitors to your mobile site
- Brand your mobile site with your own logo
- Easy to use site designer
Here's what the tech blogosphere is saying:
- Mashable - "MoFuse Grow Launched for Mobile Blog Readers"
- ReadWriteWeb - "MoFuse Creates Mobile Version of Your Website"
- Web Ware - "MoFuse Grow makes a simple .mobi site from your RSS feeds"
And finally, here's a Mofuse-enabled mobile site for RI Nexus.
Please let me know what you think of the Mofuse beta, and how we should improve it. Thanks for your support!
