Are there any social media marketing gurus here, or anyone that has ever worked in a word-of-mouth based marketing campaign?
We are trying to spread word about Scholars for Students without investing too heavily in Google Ads and would much prefer to make some great YouTube videos/facebook groups.
I'd greatly appreciate any ideas you have to share, thanks so much!

Andrew Hunt is a sophmore at Brown University and the founder of Scholars for Students.
We've finally done it.
When applying to Brown, MIT, and a handful of other rockstars in the US News College Rankings, I quickly discovered that current college students were the most useful resource in the college admissions process.
Take MIT's admissions blogs. Built on the idea that college students are the best resource for college applicants, the site boasts over 5,000 unique visitors every day who peruse MIT student blogs for information on college food, classes, etc. Really, it makes perfect sense: who knows more about MIT and its admissions process than students who recently went through it themselves?
Now, a group of Brown students and I have created Scholars for Students, the web's first student-run admissions network. The site lets high school students interact with fifteen "scholars" (college students) who blog weekly on admissions topics and moderate the site's discussion forums. In this way, college applicants can get real answers from the experts rather than the anonymous posts that infamously fill sites like College Confidential.
We're also shooting to replace the excessively expensive, professional "college consultants" with student-run college advising. Essentially, we want to make personalized advising available to families that previously couldn't afford it, and also create as many free online resources for those students who prefer to go through the process on their own.
Launching a web site from my dorm room has been an absolute roller coaster, especially with my lack of experience in essentially all of the prerequisites for a web entrepreneur. I'm grateful for any feedback on the site, and I'm excited to have the support of RINexus!

Would it be possible for organizations to beam their wireless networks and open them up to the public at different spots in providence? For example, the city could subsidize Brown to strengthen its wireless signal so that you can get online close to campus, and Brown would, in return, keep its network open to the public.
(Just a thought).
hey yes, that is a nice overview, thanks for sending that along!
