Hello All,
I am not originally from Rhode Island and I am trying to launch my IT services business, but finding that it's somewhat difficult to find ways to generate an interest in my services. There's a limited amount of advertising venue's that are IT centric and the cost of advertising in the publications across the state (Projo, Providence Business News, RI Monthly) are expensive for a startup. I know the obvious answer is to network, but working full time with more than an hour commute each way in addition to starting this business makes that concept nearly impossible. In a nutshell, Rhode Island in general is one of the toughest markets I have seen to sucessfully launch and maintain a business if you are not well known. I'd like to hear how you sucessfully achieved your customer base as well as what advertising and resources you used. I am working with the RI SBA, RI PTAC, SBDC, Central Chamber of Commerce, and other resources offered by the state.
Thank you for your time and advice!

FIOS is the same price for the same download/upload speeds. With that said, I still believe I get much better throughput from verizon than I ever got from Cox at any point. I have the base service which is 5mbit download/2mbit upload and don't find any reason to upgrade to a faster product as of right now. I am very happy with the entire bundle package from Verizon as well. My TV picture is 10 times better quality than my cable connection ever was plus there's 200 channels versus 74 that I was getting from Cox. My bundle price is 42.99 for the base package on FIOS internet. I'd give it a try before I took service from Cox. Good luck with what ever service you choose.

I've started using a new product called Alpha 5 where I am not a programmer by trade and it can interact with MYSQL, MSSQL, and Oracle as well as its own proprietary database if you don't have a server. Its an interesting product and may be worth taking a look at. I am working on getting a little more proficient with it and see if I can design some sites relatively quick for businesses.
Cox High Speed cannot even touch the bandwidth that I get from Verizon. I have the basic internet package and very happy with it. No need to bump up to the 20Mbit download rate as you will only get what the site your downloading from allows out.
I won't switch back and tell everyone that is on the fence about switching their service.
Thanks
Bob
